2007 - First season on a 600 - Club meetings

7th October 2006- My first race meeting on a full size bike - Cadwell Park - Lincolnshire - New Era - on a SV650 - coming 3rd in class with the fastest lap on an SV

11th March 2007 - Took the SV to Brands Hatch (Indy) - Bemsee in the dyno pro class - had some bike problems - but achieved a fastest lap of 54.45.

25th March 2007 - First race on 04 R6 - Cadwell Park - Auto 66 - Got 3 1st places over a 2 day meet with wins in the wet and dry, in the Rookie 600 class. My fastest lap of the weekend being 1.42.7

7th April 2007 - Cadwell Park - New Era Club - On the R6 again got a best finish of 13, but would have been the first placed Rookie, unfortunately we didn't realise we had to register as a Rookie at the start of the season so I was in with the Clubman's for the rest of my rookie season with New Era.

15th April 2007 - Snetterton - Bemsee - Back on the SV in the Dyna Pro Minitwins class - did a fastest lap of 1.18.5 - have decided that the old SV is not competitive and that maybe I should concentrate on the R6 for the rest of the season.

21st April 2007 - Oulton Park - Wirral 100 - First time at Oulton, had some problems with the bike but got plenty of track time to help me learn the track.

29th April 2007 - Mallory Park - Derby Phoenix - Bike problems with the R6 meant I never got past the practice session.

27th May 2007 - Cadwell Park - New Era - Superclub - Still not got the 04 R6 repaired so have taken an 05 R6 off the road, so I am now on a totally standard R6, its a rainy weekend and I managed a 1.53.2 in the wet

17th June 2007 - Cadwell Park - Auto 66 - Still on the standard 05 R6 racing in both the Rookie and Clubman classes with a fastest lap of 1.42.4 and getting a first and second in Rookie races. Finished a best of 10th in the Clubman's.

7th July 2007 - Oulton Park - New Era - Still on standard 05 R6 in a open class, got 13th in last race of the day, but was the 5th 600.

5th August 2007 - Elvington - Auto 66 - We decide to do more Auto 66 meets after discovering I am 3rd place overall despite only having 2 out of 8 meetings. Not like any track I've ridden so far but managed a second and a third with a lap time of 1.01.9 - still on the standard R6

11th August 2007 - Cadwell park - Bemsee - still on standard bike, terrible weather that weekend - torrential rain - got 5th in the rain with the second fastest lap of 1.49.1.

26th August 2007 - Elvington - Auto 66 - got a 1st in the Rookie class and 3rd in the Clubman's with a fastest lap of 58.90.

1st September 2007 - Snetterton - New Era (club) - back on the 04 R6 so I have a bit more power (117bhp). Did a 1.13.08 finishing 4th in class, also did the moto sixty a 30 minute race which meant 27 laps of the Snetterton track, my lap times remained consistently 1.13 - 1.14 for every lap of the race and I finished the third 600.

30th September 2007 - Elvington - Auto 66 - Won both the points and trophy races in the Rookie and Clubman classes, taking the Rookie lap record at 58.18 and in the clubman 600 missed the outright 600 lap record by tenths of a second with a fastest lap of 57.95.

6th October 2007 - Cadwell Park - New Era (club) - clutch went on the 04 R6 on last session of the Friday practice, Dad was still trying to sort the bike 10 minutes before qualifying so at the last minute had to jump on the new 06 R6 with cold tyres and incorrectly set up suspension, I managed to qualify 9th. My fastest lap of the weekend was a 1.39.08 with a 6th position, but due to mixed grid with the 1000cc bikes I had to come through the pack each race from 25th on the grid.

13th October 2007 - Cadwell Park - Auto 66 - Decided to stay riding the 06 R6 made some suspension setting changes but the bike is still standard, reading 112bhp on the dyno. Over the 2 day meet won every Rookie race and finished 2nd, 4th, 3rd and 2nd in the Clubman classes. Beating riders that had beaten me by some margin earlier in the season. Managed my quickest lap yet at this track with a 1.37.2. This would have put me 2nd on the grid in the BSB R6 cup. Really starting to gel with the new bike as the new engine loosens up we will manage more power from this standard machine.

27th October 2007 - Anglesey - Cheshire & Nantwich - After qualifying on pole in the wet, a wrong tyre choice on a drying track saw me unable to keep with the pace and lose places to finish in 5th

2008 - First year at National Level - British Superstock 600

March 2008 - Brands Hatch Indy - MRO superstock class - In the first race I finished 1st in the Jnr class and 2nd Overall, I went confidently into the second race which was wet,

22nd March 2008 - Testing at Cadwell in extremely cold, wet and windy conditions resulted in a high side crash which broke my collar bone. I was gutted with the first BSB race only being 2 weeks away.

4th - 6th April 2008 - Brands Hatch GP - BSB - Going into the first race of the SuperStock 600 class was not how I saw my season starting. The qualifying sessions were a mixture of wet and dry, and whilst I only qualified 37th in the dry, struggling to get drive out of corners with my broken collar bone, however in the second wet qualifying I was 2nd. As the dry times were faster my dry qualifying set my grid position. I was disappointed but at least I had qualified despite my injury. All racing was cancelled on the Sunday due to the heavy snow.

18th - 20th April 2008 - Thruxton - BSB - My first time at the track and still I was struggling in the dry however 2 wet qualifying sessions put me 10th and 12th. The race however was dry and my collar bone couldn't cope with the fast track and I finished 39th.

3rd - 5th May 2008 - Oulton Park - BSB - A disappointing weekend saw me qualifying 30th and 35th and finishing 27th in the race.

10th May 2008 - Brands Hatch GP - BSB - Aprils re run - My grid position from qualifying in April stood so I started 37th on the grid. The weekend was hot complete opposite from Aprils, and although my race was going well with me passing people with each lap, I lost grip on the front end and low sided trying to pass to get into 17th position. Although I was fine and wanted to get back on the bike that was unfortunately the end of it for me, although disappointed about the crash I felt happier with my riding and went away feeling optimistic about Donnington.

24 - 26th May 2008 - Donnington GP - BSB - Despite a weekend of high winds and mixed weather I qualified 17th and 14th. The race went well and I finished 15th, at last I had my first points in the championship.

13th - 15th June 2008 - Snetterton - BSB - After coming 15th in free practice, I came in to find a problem with my engine that meant I couldn't go out in first qualifying that same day, as luck would have it my mechanic Don ( HB Motorcycles) was on his way down with a new R6 just picked up from Len Manchester's. Don and my Dad spent all evening getting the new bike ready for qualifying the next day, the bike wasn't even run in so the engine was tight, but I managed to qualify in 33rd, not where I'd hoped after free practice but considering the circumstances I was just happy to qualify. I finished 29th in the race feeling like I have had my quota of bad luck, hopefully!!

18 - 20th July - Oulton Park - Back to Oulton, still struggling with set up of the new bike, particularly suspension saw me qualify 38th. The race went OK and I did at least make some places to finish 26th

8 - 10th August - Knockhill - Another track that I had never visited before and only 36 grid positions meant I had to learn the track quickly. The weather was changeable and unpredictable. I qualified 33rd so only just made it. The race was on a drying track making conditions difficult at the start, I finished 27th but had been so poorly during the night (dodgy Scottish water at the circuit didnt realise it wasnt drinking water!!!!!) I was lucky to be able to even get on the bike.

23rd - 25th August - Cadwell - I was optomistic about Cadwell unlike many of the other tracks on the BSB calender I had been to this track many times. We were still struggling to get the set up of the bike right and I dont know what it was but I felt I just couldn't get on the pace. I qualified 26th. The race saw me get a good start only to lose a load of places when I had a near high side during the first lap. I tried hard to make back the ground and finished in22nd. I left the meeting feeling disappointed with my performance

12 - 14th September - Croft - I had only ever done a couple of track days at Croft but felt I had clicked with the track. I qualified in 19th. The race went OK although I still think the suspension set up of the bike isnt quite right. I finished 15th overall.

26th - 28th September - Silverstone - Again in experienced at this track but finding I like it. 1st qualifying saw me in 15th and second saw me qualifying in 19th. We tweeked the suspension set up again before the race. The race went well, with me, Jess and Pat having a close race for our postions, I finished in 12th my best result so far.

10th - 12th October - Brands Hatch Indy - Brands was a double header so decent qualifying was important as it would set our positions for 2 races. The field was so massive that they split the class into 2 groups. 1st qualifying went OK but could have been better so we made some setting adjustments for the second one, which saw me get into the 48 second laps and qualfy 3rd overall. An injury to P1 man, Luke Jones meant on race day I started P2 on the grid. I was nervous for the first race, my start was OK but saw me lose a couple of places, I stayed in 4th for most of the race but with a couple of laps to go Jess, got past me leaving me to finish in 5th. A great result.

The second race saw me get a better start keeping my second place, 7 laps in Jimmy Hill went down leaving me at the front of the race, after a couple of laps Robbie Brown made a move and got past me, I stayed with him but couldn't find anywhere to make a move to get back past him. I finished 2nd, I was thrilled, at last to get a podium finish. What a way to end the year.

I am now looking forward to what I hope will be a good season in 2009
